Hi! I received my Q.bo a little while ago and I can't wait to get going with it! I completed the setup, but other than that I cannot find a clear instruction about how to use this thing. I was expecting to find some kind of manual about the software that is already on there, or at least some instruction about how to program the Q.bo in any manner. Browsing the forum I get the idea that I'm the only one having this problem, the rest of you folks seem to be knowing what you're doing quite well. I'm a bit of a newby regarding programming, especially using embedded hardware. Is there any general instruction besides the setup available somewhere? Or is this basic hardware knowledge I do not yet posses (and in this case do you have any tips about how to obtain this)?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Vianne,

Don´t worry. We are here to help you. You can find more information in our Blog www.thecorpora.com/blog/ about how to use Q.bo with Scratch, Google Assistance or Dialogflow. Anyway if you have any specific information dont hesitate contact us directly at orders@thecorpora.com

Enjoy!

The "developers" link on the blog just send to a quite empty page  advertising a "one sdk" a can't really find a trace of.

I'm I the only one confused here ?

Is there any tangible documentation ?

Thanks for the info! Since I think a lot of others can benefit from this info I prefer asking questions on the forum instead of email, if you don't mind!

There are a couple of things I'm intending to do with the Qbo:

  • Changing the language to Dutch. I guess I need to pass somewhere in the code that Google's TTS and STT will use dutch language instead of English.
  • Change the listening criteria for Qbo from seeing a face to listening to a wake-word (or some other type of interaction, depending on what's doable programming-wise. Maybe touching it's head or something)
  • Most importantly: Connecting the Qbo with some sensors over bluetooth le and using this info to influence the conversation it is having with some person.

For all of these functions I need to understand how the Qbo 'works'; Which code does it run on startup (and after)? Is there any  documentation regarding the architecture behind the software? This would make it a lot easier for me to find out which parts of the code to alter and how to implement my own functions if necessary.

P.S. thumbs up for the quick response from thecorpora on all of my questions!

Hi Vianne, first of all thank you for your kind words. About your questions:

1.- Right now Google Assistance SDK for third parties only works in English but we know that they will open very soon for other languages.

2.- Yes, we are working for the wakeup-word in the OpenQbo V3 using "snowboy". If you have time, please collaborate with us and provide your voice.
Enter here and record your voice. We need 500 recordings of different people so that recognition works universally.

3.- Qbo is based on Raspbian and you can use all open source  IOT applications. If you have some specific questions about it, dont hesitate contact us directly. You can start learning about this here:  https://maker.pro/raspberry-pi/tutorial/how-to-get-started-with-iot-using-raspberry-pi-and-putty-part-1

Kind Regards Vianne.

You are not the only one finding all of this confusing. I can't even find documentation on how to upgrade the "eyes" that were included in the box for an extra cost.

Hi All,

I am in the same boat, I have been to all the link provided above. My Qbo does not face recognize and sound at all.. isn't it suppose to work right out of the box?

Am I missing something? I look everywhere for information but it is very limited information.

Thank you,

Vincent

I opened the box and took Q.bo out of the box.  I searched for a manual or an instruction sheet to no avail.  I went online to thecorpora.com and found how to set up my wifi.  I was really impressed with the connection to the network!

If I could wish for a better introduction to Q.bo, this is what I would like.  A simple instruction of how to run a test program to make sure everything is operational.  Why isn't there a Q.bo test program available on Dialogflow or a cut and paste link to the program that could be entered into the  DialogFlow token entry?  How about a demo program for GAssistant for Qbo with a link to the program for entry into the GAssistant Token slot?  I have not been able to even test my new Q.bo's assets!  Please come up with a solution.

Hi everyone,

Qbo documentation is available online via this forum, the blog or under github.

The general intro to setup and various links can be found here:  http://thecorpora.com/setup/

Have you tried the instruction with the OpenQbo V2.0 under this link http://thecorpora.com/openqbov2/  as presented in the blog?

I've got Q.Bo saying "I'm not connected to the Internet, start scanning QR code" I've generated the QR code but when I put the qr code in front of either of Q,Bo's eyes (using an iPhone) it doesn't react in any way.  It just keeps repeating the same message.

How do you trigger it to start scanning the code?

Is there something verbal you can do up front to make sure that the eyes are even working?

Hi Gary,

have you used thecorpora/qr application and entered the wifi credentials? For me this is working without problem. I generated the qr code on my phone and then placed it in front of Q.bo who recognized it immediately and updates its setup with the credentials. After reboot it detects and connects to wifi.

Alternatively, please connect a keyboard/mouse to Q.bo and you can enter the wifi credential into the setup tool of Raspberry Pi.

For me the QR generator  works perfectly too.
