Hello,
I didn't receive yet my q.bo one, but one of the features I would like to work on is the interaction with q.bo one with a language different than english.
Can you please give me more information about the voice recognition and text to speech softwares that are built in q.bo one?
Will it be possible to change them?
Thanks!

Hello Giancarlo,
Qbo One has been designed as an Open Source platform that works together with the Raspberry Pi3.  This make Q.bo One a very versatile robot and with the capability to work with any program. When you receive Qbo, you will see that we use "espeak" as the voice system  The system is open source and that allows us to use many different type of voices and languages. Kindly refer to the following link for the additional languages that you can use with Q.bo and Espeak  http://espeak.sourceforge.net/languages.html

For speech recognition we use a free version of Google Python that allows us to recognize a large number of languages but feel free to install open source and offline engines like "Julius" or "Pocketsphinx" or online engines like "alexa" or "project Oxford" from Microsoft. Maybe for some kind of these services you need to pay a monthly fee.

However, as we have iterated before, the most important feature is that you can install and use with Q.bo One any other voice recognition or synchronization software. In all likelihood, many software images of different applications will soon be available, exploiting the potential of the platform.  You can download them, burn them to an SD card and work with different applications.

That will be the true potential and magic of Q.bo One!
